Henry Ford said this: "The whole secret of a successful life is to find out what it is one’s destiny to do and then do it."
So many people are waiting for a change in their life, but change doesn't come until you make it happen. You have to make the change. You have to step out. And God will meet you.
David had to step out and kill Goliath, and then God promoted Him. Ask yourself: "What are the 'Goliaths' in my life?" What giants do you need to kill in order to move forward to your destiny?
In the bible we see example after example of men and women that had to do things that made them very uncomfortable--even to the point of life and death situations. David...Moses...Joshua...Daniel...Mary, the mother of Jesus... And the list goes on and on.
In your Christian life there are always battles to fight; there will always be discomfort and challenges. But fear not: the battle is the Lord's.
Your destiny needs to be in your heart, given to you by the Holy Spirit. And then you need to do what you need to, in Jesus' name, to make it come to pass.
The devil will try to stop you through other people--nay-sayers, discouragers, fearmongers, etc.--or even your own negative thoughts about yourself.
Practical tip #1: Get an IMAGE of how big our God is, and then believe in yourself and BELIEVE it is possible for you. Believe in YOU, knowing you can do all things in and with Christ. God makes a way for a man who knows where He is going. Get the vision and make it plain--draw it out, write it down, email it to a friend...
Yes, it's true we can all get discouraged and lose sight of the finish line. But don’t let how you feel determine where you are going. Make a decision to get back on track. No condemnation--just do it!
I plan on finding a building this year for our Church. I plan on having the church of my dreams and yours. I will give it my best effort. I will spend time on my knees before the Lord, because I believe Jeremiah 29:11-14:
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations..."
Practical tip #2: Overcome your fears by making a plan. My plan includes getting wise counsel and reading books to improve myself. I am not looking at my past to determine my future. I have not failed in the past--I have learned what not to do again!
I'm asking God for Wisdom. I'm pushing forward. I'm not letting anything stop me from my destiny.
Make a decision today to reach for the stars this year. We serve a Big God with big ideas. "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us..." (Ephesians 3:20)
I am smart and so are you. I am healthy and so are you. I have the mind of Christ and so do you.
Have an INCREDIBLE 2015...and let me know what your plans are. I'm interested and encouraged when I hear what God is doing in your life.
